DESPITE DIFFICULTIES, FLOATING OFFSHORE WIND CAPACITY KEEPS INCREASING
DETAIL INFORMATION
A notable rise in electricity production from floating offshore wind farms is being observed worldwide, as a recent report indicates that operational capacity has grown by 38 percent in the last year.
Although the offshore wind sector faces increasing challenges - such as regulatory hurdles, rising capital expenditures, and supply chain issues among others - its most expensive option, floating turbine setups, continues to progress.
The newest version of RenewableUK’s EnergyPulse report indicates that the operational capacity from floating offshore wind rose from 277 MW to 382 MW in the 12 months ending in October, marking a 38 percent growth.
Europe maintains its leadership in floating offshore wind, as Norway integrates 97 MW to its grid, while France adds 87 MW and the UK contributes 78 MW of new operational capacity. In Asia, China incorporated 72 MW into its grid, while Japan contributed 22 MW.
