KLAIPEDA PORT'S BIGGEST EXPANSION PROJECT ENTERS CONSTRUCTION STAGE

The Port of Klaipeda is entering a new stage in its most extensive expansion project ever, as initial construction activities are beginning. Site preparation has begun in the southern section of the port, where a significant new port area will be established in the upcoming years.
"We are now extremely near to the beginning of the southern port expansion." Following an extended phase of planning and preparation, on-site work is starting. When the site is prepared, the building of the southern breakwaters will commence this fall, signifying the initial phase of the most extensive expansion project in the history of the Port of Klaipeda. This initiative highlights our consistent progress in advancing our vision of constructing a more robust port for Lithuania. According to Algis Latakas, CEO of the Klaipeda Port Authority, it will enhance the country's appeal to investors, boost our competitiveness in global markets, and assist military mobility requirements that are crucial not only for Lithuania but also for the broader region.
Tilsta, which secured the tender issued earlier this year, will construct the southern breakwaters. The agreement finalized with the Klaipeda Port Authority amounts to EUR 24.5 million not including VAT. Construction is anticipated to start this fall.
