ABS AIP FOR AUTONOMOUS TECHNOLOGY FOR AMMONIA-FUELED SHIPS IS GIVEN TO HD HYUNDAI
DETAIL INFORMATION
The shipbuilder HD Hyundai of South Korea is putting up a cutting-edge strategy for managing and running ammonia-fueled vessels. Artificial intelligence (AI) and autonomous technology are being used more and more in shipbuilding in collaboration with ABS as a means of ensuring crew safety when using ammonia operations.
With the demonstration of the first ammonia-fueled engines, ammonia technology is still advancing. The first onboard ammonia cracking device was successfully demonstrated yesterday by the American startup Amogy aboard a tugboat, which is powered by hydrogen pumped into fuel cells. The problem of managing ammonia because of its toxicity is one that is frequently brought up in all the development projects.
Executive Vice President of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Jaejun Jung says, "Our extensive experience with alternative fuel systems has enabled us to develop the Unmanned Engine Room concept for Ammonia-Fueled ships, which enhances both crew safety and convenience." "We have developed an enhanced automated and remote monitoring system in partnership with ABS, which reduces crew access to the engine room and should enable safer crew travels."
