  • AFTER BEING IMPRISONED FOR 18 MONTHS, THE FIFTH BULKER ESCAPES FROM ODESSA.

    DETAIL INFORMATION

After spending more than 560 days in Odesa's port, a fifth merchant ship is now departing from Ukrainian ports along the Black Sea and heading for the humanitarian corridor. A Ukrainian lawmaker first posted about this departure on social media, and Oleksandr Kubrakov, the vice prime minister for infrastructure in Ukraine, later confirmed it.

The Cayman Islands-registered dry bulk ship Puma (34,979 dwt) has departed, and its AIS signal has confirmed this. It is a modern ship that has been in Odesa since February 2022. It was one of about a dozen big ships that were captured at the harbour at the beginning of the war. Although listed as one of the ships anticipated to take part in the Black Sea grain negotiations, the Puma reportedly was unable to leave Odesa.
