  • DAMEN HANDS OVER THE FOURTH COMBI FREIGHTER 3850 TO REEDEREI BERND SIBUM

    DETAIL INFORMATION

    Damen Shipyards Group has provided the fourth Combi Freighter (CF) 3850 from an order of four to Reederei Bernd Sibum. The transfer comes after successful sea trials in Shanghai. In the upcoming weeks, the ship, called Maria Sibum, will head to Europe carrying cargo.

     

    Improved productivityThe delivery of the fourth CF 3850 coincides with the arrival of the initial vessel, Baltic Timber, at Damen Shiprepair Harlingen. Upon reaching Europe, all four ships will visit the yard to be fitted with Econowind ventofoils. The wind-assisted propulsion system is expected to lower the vessels' fuel use by an additional 12.5%.

     

    All the vessels incorporate various solutions to enhance efficiency, partially supported by the German Government through a NaMKü (Nachhaltige Modernisierung von Küstenschiffen/sustainable modernisation of coastal ships) grant.
