  • CMA CGM TRANSFERS ADDITIONAL TWO CONTAINER VESSELS TO INDIAN REGISTRY

    DETAIL INFORMATION

Officials in India state that CMA CGM is transferring two additional containerships to the Indian registry. The shipping giant initiated the trend last year to broaden its activities in India and comply with updated cabotage regulations.

Earlier this month, it was reported that CMA CGM transferred the CMA CGM Vila do Conde from flying the Maltese flag to India. Constructed in 2009, it is a 33,434-dwt container ship that can hold 2,556 TEU. The vessel has been operating for CMA CGM since 2023.

The Economic Times reports that representatives from the Directorate of Shipping have verified that documents have been submitted to shift the CMA CGM Semarang from Malta to the Indian flag. Constructed in 2007, the vessel has a deadweight of 38,000 tons and can hold 2,700 TEU.
