The port stretching to about 50 kilometres south of Kolkata is the fourth largest port in India. The port of Haldia with a capacity of handling 43 million tonnes of cargo flaunts 15 berths with a total length of 3.3 thousand metres and a depth ranging from 8.5 -11 metres.
