TSingapore's Port is the world's busiest container transhipment centre and the world's largest publicly owned port. The Port of Singapore is located on the southern end of the Malay Peninsula, 30 kilometres south-west of Malaysia's Port of Johor, and connects to over 600 ports in 123 countries.
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) owns the port and is in charge of its growth and development.
In 2019, the port handled 37.2 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) of containers and 626.2 million tonnes of cargo. Currently, it receives around 130,000 vessel calls each year on average.
