Djibouti's port is at the southern entrance to the Red Sea, at the crossroads of key international shipping routes connecting Asia, Africa, and Europe.
The Port is a small detour from the main East-West trade route, and it serves as a safe regional hub for products transhipment and relay. Since 1998, the Port has handled all of Ethiopia's maritime traffic, which is transported by truck and rail to and from Addis Ababa. The Port has made numerous additional dry yard areas available to serve this critical company. Djibouti's port is in an ideal location to serve the COMESA market, which connects 19 nations and 380 million people.
