  • ANEMOI SECURES SIGNIFICANT UK FUNDING TO ENHANCE ROTOR SAIL DESIGN

    DETAIL INFORMATION

Anemoi Marine Technologies, the top developer in the UK of wind-assisted ship propulsion systems, has secured funding in the sixth round of the Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition. The £1.2 million initiative will encompass the creation of an advanced folding sail system specifically designed for Kamsarmax and Panamax bulk carriers, alongside aerodynamic improvements that will greatly boost fuel efficiency.

The UK Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition has allocated £136 million in government funding to engineering pioneers creating advanced maritime decarbonisation solutions, aimed at boosting growth for coastal communities and solidifying the UK’s role as a leader in clean energy. The CMDC funding enables Anemoi to enhance its technological leadership in the fast-expanding wind-assisted propulsion industry.

Clare Urmston, CEO of Anemoi, stated: “This investment will help Anemoi progress the upcoming generation of Rotor Sail technology." Although our Rotor Sails are currently efficient and high-performing, continuous innovation is crucial to achieve additional efficiency improvements, adjust to changing vessel designs, and fulfill rising environmental goals. This funding highlights Anemoi’s capability to aid the UK in promoting sustainable shipping as the maritime sector strives to reduce emissions.
