CMA CGM PLANS TO INVEST $600 MILLION IN CONSTRUCTING A TERMINAL IN NORTHERN VIETNAM
DETAIL INFORMATION
CMA CGM Group has announced that it has formed a public-private partnership to establish its initial terminal in northern Vietnam as part of its initiative to broaden its global terminal operations in key ports. The group refers to it as a tactical investment to bolster the area's robust industrial and logistics expansion.
CMA CGM emphasizes that it has been present in Vietnam since 1989 and currently runs 29 weekly services from seven ports across the nation. It shares ownership of the Gemalink terminal in Cai Mep, located in southern Vietnam close to Ho Chi Minh City, as well as the Vietnam International Container Terminal in Ho Chi Minh City.
The organization has entered into a partnership contract with Saigon Newport Corporation to create a new deep-water terminal in Hai Phong in northern Vietnam. Hai Pong, a French colonial port established in 1874, is close to the northern border with China and is one of the locations Vietnam is focusing on for industrial and manufacturing growth.
