  • PROOF OF CARBON CAPTURE AND EMISSIONS FILTERING FOR AT-BERTH SHIPS.

    DETAIL INFORMATION

The possibility to combine carbon capture for at-berth vessels with maritime emissions capture was validated by recent demonstration tests conducted on vessels at the Prot of Long Beach. Offering what the firms describe as a comprehensive, cost-effective solution for the marine industry, the project combines the technology of STAX Engineering, a California-based pioneer in maritime emissions collection and control, with Seabound, a UK-based leader in onboard carbon capture.

The solution's trials started in March 2025, and according to the corporations, they went through three iterations, including ones with Wallenius Wilhelmsen and NYK Line. Yesterday, April 16, the most recent demonstration was held in Long Beach, serving a Wallenius Wilhelmsen-operated RoRo vehicle carrier. According to the companies, the end-to-end modular system has successfully completed its last trial.
