THE CANADIAN COAST GUARD UPDATES THE MSC BALTIC III SALVAGE PROGRESS.
DETAIL INFORMATION
Salvage crews have had their first chance to advance their efforts to lower the pollution danger from the downed containership MSC Baltic III thanks to the weather in the regions surrounding Newfoundland, Canada. Although there are always risks, the Canadian Coast Guard notes that no pollution has been seen from the stranded ship as of yet.
According to the Canadian Coast Guard's most recent report, "the MSC-contracted tug and barge were able to accompany the MSC Baltic III to load some frac tanks and a containment boom onboard the vessel." "The fuel will be stored and offloaded in the frac tanks."
On February 15, not far from Corner Brook, the cargo ship blacked out and was forced ashore in a secluded bay on the western coast of Newfoundland. According to the Coast Guard and T&T Salvage, the efforts were hampered by the isolated position and the harsh winter conditions, which included strong gusts and ice in the cove.
